Spiritual Reflection and Learning
Wednesday Women's Spirituality Group The Wednesday Women’s Spirituality Group meets weekly to read and reflect on the Bible, a book, or poetry or to participate in varied spiritual exercises. In the past we have discussed the Sunday Gospel and books such as Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer, Christ of the Celts by J. Philip Newell and Jesus Freak by Sara Miles, and spent time praying with icons and images. The group decides what we want to do as we move through the year. Discussion is lively, insights and understandings are diverse and the caring for one another intimate. Join us!
We meet Wednesdays, 12:00 -1:00 p.m., September through May, in the St. John's library. Contact:

Contemplative Prayer Community The Contemplative Prayer Community gathers every Sunday at 7:00pm in the chapel at St. John’s. This 45 minute service may include prayers, poetry, scripture, chanting and always includes 20 minutes of silent prayer and prayers of concern and celebration. Led by members of the community, this service welcomes all who find their way to the chapel entrance on 42nd Street. Though our prayer includes silence, our leave-taking on Sunday evenings is often filled with conversation and laughter. All are welcome to pray with us.
Sunday Book Discussion This fall we'll discuss Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years by Dairmaid MacCulloch. Our plan is to discuss a chapter or two each meeting until we have finished the book. We are always open to new people. We meet every other Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the home of Dan and Ann Gifford. Meetings include a discussion of the book, dessert, fellowship and personal sharing. Contact:
