Children's Ministry at St Johns

Welcome to the St Johns ministry for children, youth and families.  At St. John's we strive to provide opportunities for children, youth and families to grow in their faith both by learning and doing.  We recognize that God is uniquely present in every person and that each member of this community has the potential to change us, and the world, for the better.

All Sunday School programming begins Sunday, September 12.

Sunday School
So what is really going on downstairs while the adults are in Forum or drinking coffee? A group of very generous and dedicated adults are experiencing a different kind of adult formation – they are finding God with the children of St Johns.

Sunday School meets most Sunday mornings during the school year from 10:10 until 10:55 am.  Sunday school is provided for children ages 3 (by September 1) up through Senior High.  To serve our children well, we also need parent support and occasional presence.  For more information about enrolling your children, the teaching ministry or other ways to support the Sunday morning programs, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Acolytes
All those who are interested in becoming an acolyte and all of those returning as acolytes are invited to a Pizza lunch at St Johns, 12:00 noon on September 12. We will talk about our experience of acolyting, go over the routine of a Sunday morning and talk about what these actions we regularly do mean. All questions are welcome. Hope you can join us! Children's Chapel

At our 9 and 11 o'clock services, we offer a children's chapel service in the Parish hall for little ones.  The age range is about 4 through 10, but some younger and older kids are able to participate well.  The service is a child's version of the Liturgy of The Word, including songs, prayers, a collection of money to help with peace and justice causes, and continuing story (the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation in about three years).  We are always happy to have parents accompany children to this service.

9:00 children's chapel begins in the Parish Hall.  At the 11:00 service, children follow the crucifer out of church about ten minutes into the service.  We return to church at the Passing of the Peace so that families may receive communion together.
