Choir & Ensembles at St Johns

The 2010-2011 music season is upon us! We welcome your musical gifts as soloist or part of an ensemble. Consider participating in one or more of the following musical opportunities at St. John's:

Children's Choirs
Begin September 15 | Open House September 8
Currently two choirs divided by age group; open to all children. Families share supper in the Parish Hall; children practice in the Library. Children's Choirs gather Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:50 pm. Join us for an Open House Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 6:30.

Parish Choir
Begins September 15
A choir of mixed voices open to singers high school age and older. This choir prepares a variety of anthems to sing during 9:00 & 11:00 Sunday morning services. The Parish Choir gathers for practice on Wednesdays at 7:30pm.

Festival Choir
The Parish Choir expands to welcome anyone interested in singing on a seasonal basis to prepare anthems for any one or all of four principal Festivals including All Saints Sunday (Nov. 7), Christmas Eve (Dec 24), Easter Sunday (April 24), and Pentecost Sunday (June 12). The Festival Choir gathers 7:30-9:00 pm on selected Wednesdays prior to each Festival.

EpiscoPals
Begins September 14
A collection of musicians that gather around the popular song and who bring their music to special events at St. John's during the year. This rockin' band of songsters meet in the Sanctuary from 7:00-8:30 pm on selected Tuesdays throughout the season.

Cantors
Leaders of the People's Song. Open to all singers/instrumentalists interested in leading congregational song during services. Cantors meet to prepare 9:00 am service music from 8:00-8:30 on Sunday mornings and prepare 11:00 am service music from 10:10-10:40 on Sunday mornings.

Vocal Ensembles
Women's voices, Men's voices, Mixed voices, selected by the Music Director, prepare a variety of anthems to sing during services. St. John's Vocal Ensembles gather for practice in the Sanctuary from 7:00-7:30 pm on Wednesdays beginning September 15.

Christmas Orchestra
Open to all ages and levels of proficiency. The Orchestra prepares music to be presented during the Children's Christmas Pageant on Saturday, Dec. 18 and during the 3pm Family Christmas Eve service. Rehearsals held after church on December 5 & 12 from 12:30-2 pm.
