Haiti Partnership

The Haiti Partnership Program is about growing together in Christ through relationship. St Johns has been in partnership with the parish of St Philippe & St Jacques in Gressier, Haiti since June, 2007. St Johns Haiti Partnership Committee meets regularly to coordinate plans for working with St. Philippe & St. Jacques and their rector, Father Kerwin Delicat, and for making visits to Haiti.

The earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010 gave renewed impetus and urgency to our partnership. The residents of Gressier and surrounding areas suffered great losses, and both the church and school of St Philippe & St Jacques were destroyed.

St Johns is committed to a long-term relationship with our Haitian friends and partners as they rebuild their homes, schools, churches and their lives. Each year we raise significant funds to provide support for the school at St. Philippe & St Jacques. We organize two medical missions a year. In 2012, we hope to help rebuild the school.

Support our Haiti Partnership

Consider a financial gift to the Haiti Partnership. The needs are ongoing - teacher salaries, school supplies, school lunches. Please help to continue our support of our partners and friends. A check to St. John's, with Haiti Partnership on the memo line, can be placed in the offertory plate or mailed to the church office. Many thanks to all who have already donated. Your support is invaluable.

Advent is one of the times that we ask for your support of this vital ministry. In addition to having some gifts for you to buy, we are asking you to consider sponsoring a teacher, a child, or a classroom.

During Advent you can purchase a card as a gift, giving to the Haiti fund on behalf of a loved one.  For example:

$25 donation - tuition for one month plus uniform for a child
$60 donation - teacher salary for one month
$100 donation - lunch for an entire classroom every day for one month
$250 donation - complete sponsorship for one child for the school year
$540 donation - teacher salary for an entire school year.
$___ donation of any amount for the twice yearly medical clinics conducted at one parish and a neighboring parish.
